2025 RECIPIENT OF THE FUNDS RAISED
TA Food Forest
The Te Awamutu Food Forest is an inspiring example of how unused green space can be transformed into a flourishing edible garden for all. Fruit trees, vegetable beds, native plantings and composting systems work together to produce fresh, seasonal food that’s freely available to the community. Volunteers, local schools and groups all help maintain this living classroom, which supports sustainability, food resilience and wellbeing. Take a wander, pick up ideas for your own backyard, and see how a simple idea can grow into a place of connection and abundance for all.
2025 RECIPIENT OF THE FUNDS RAISED
Life Education Trust
Provides education to support the health and wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi, delivered through interactive learning experiences. In primary and intermediate schools, our specialist health teachers provide engaging and memorable lessons through the Healthy Harold Programme. We visit more than 1400 schools and kura each year in our unique mobile classrooms, where students learn about their body, friendships, their identity, food and nutrition, and helpful and harmful substances. We take a co-design approach, working with schools to ensure each lesson meets the unique needs of their community.
In secondary schools, we help rangatahi to navigate adolescence through our three Theatre-in-Education programmes. SMASHED informs and educates young people on the dangers of underage drinking, promoting responsible attitudes to alcohol. Behind the Scenes explores vaping and social media influence. SMART$ empowers young people to make positive financial choices.
2025 RECIPIENT OF THE FUNDS RAISED
Te Awamutu Health Shuttle
Provides residents of Te Awamutu and surrounding districts with access to healthcare services in Hamilton and Te Kuiti – Monday to Friday. The service is provided by volunteers who will escort you to and from your clinic reception. The service relies on donations to operate. Wheelchair access and safety approved child seats available.
